We are one of Europe's leading mid-market private equity investors.

Our buy-out business has a team of 45 investment professionals in eight offices across five countries. We have a successful track record spanning over 25 years and have invested in over 350 businesses. Typically we are investing circa €750m per annum in 10-15 transactions. Our investment in individual transactions ranges between €10m and €200m.

We invest as a strategic partner alongside management teams, working together to build and realise shareholder value.

We have a strong focus on change of ownership deals and have a core focus on businesses with an enterprise value of between €25m and €250m.

The buy-out business is currently investing the €2.4 billion Barclays Private Equity European Fund III which closed in September 2007.

We also have an Infrastructure team of 12 investment professionals based in London.

This specialist team invests in infrastructure projects sponsored predominantly under the Government's Private Finance Initiative and Public Private Partnerships (PPP). From the launch of the first infrastructure fund in 1997, Barclays Private Equity has raised in excess of £1 billion across five dedicated infrastructure funds.

The five funds cover the primary market for the development of new infrastructure, the secondary market for investment in operational infrastructure assets and a specialist fund for the development and management of student accommodation.
